In the beginning of the 20th century there
was already an Overseas Returned Scholars Association
in Shanghai. It was established in 1913. Mr.Li Denghui,
President of Fudan University, was the first President.
The returned students gathered from time to time. The
Association was called as "Get Together" and
also had a name of "May Flower" in English.
Historical great men, such as Dr.Sun Yat-sen and Madam
Song Qingling, joined the activities of the association
with enthusiasm, In their speeches, they called on the
members to "Build a New China with the Authority
of Knowledge".
